A New Challenge for Me

 
I have never played the Stamping In Time Challenge at the Our Daily Bread Designs blog, but wanted to, so I did this week. It's a fun challenge check it out:


"Use ODBD images to create your own background papers.  ODBD background stamps are okay!  Just make sure you have at least one panel that was totally stamped with ODBD images to create the paper"

I used, what else, my favorite 'Grow in Grace' set! I only have 4 sets from ODBD, so I hope I win one of these contests! 


I also am entering the monthly Hotspot Challenge,  Laser Cut Details. I used a Martha Stewart boarder punch, (can't remember the name right now), for my laser cut look. 


The colors are inspired by The Play Date Cafe. I have always loved the combo, but the combo of the orange on the turquoise is really hard on the eyes in this card. This is the least 'wonky eyed' photo I could get today.

Fellowship Monday

Feeling funny? Well Deedee's Digis Happy Monday Challenge has a super challenge for you today!  It's Fellowship Monday of the Month, so lets all share a smile!!!

If you haven't checked out the new store, you really must, it's fabulous! When I first came upon this digi of Deedee's, all I could think of was Jerry Lewis yelling 'heeeeey, laaaa-dy'! I don't know if it was from a movie or what, but it stuck in my head. This week I finally had a reason to use it. It's funny to me, and bright and cheerful for everyone else. Lilac Love

Hard one to photograph, being BLACK & WHITE with a SPLASH of  LILAC. I wanted to get this posted and loaded so I could get it into Crafting With Deedee's Digi's challenge. This is her current "try before you buy" image, great pair of hearts wouldn't you say?  The challenge last Monday was a sketch, which I turned on it's side. Tune in tomorrow for Deedee's newest 'Happy Monday' challenge!!! The colors are from the challenge over at the Play Date Cafe. I love the Color Splash challenges!

Girlie Bling!

I'm not sure what I think about this card....The image is from Michelle Perkett Studio, used for the Michelle Perket Studio Challenge, 'Girlie with bling'. I colored her with regular markers and added a bunch of bling, rhinestones. The color combo is hot pink, turquoise, rusty orange and dark chocolate, based on this picture:

A card and a winner!!!

First a card...I so enjoyed the PlayDateCafe'Challenge, that I had to use the colors again. My image is colored with SU Water Color Crayons, the colors are much softer than on my Victorian Rose card.

This is my idea of a pet. I would love to have a pig, I absolutely love them, the real ones, really, we used to raise them. Anyway...this is going on over at Crafting with Deedee's Digi's:

Priscillastyles Rose

I tried something a little off the wall, today. I used the elegant image from the 'Victorian Rose Fan Set' by Priscillastyles, along with the color challenge over at the Play Date Cafe making this a BOLD card.

'colour horribilis' challenge! Colors that we don't think will go together.
[[I agree with Sarah Anderson, and Penny Bearcroft, that you can combine any colors, just pay attention to tone, shade, and finish.]] Read their thought HERE.

I added a lot of pearls and bent the leaves up for some elegance and definition. I also used a black glaze pen to outline various areas of the image.

Another Birdie Thanks

Okay, okay, I know I need to move on, and use other images by Deedee, and I will, but I just love this little birdie for thank yous. This is a little 3x3 note card. This is as vintage as I can get right now, it's just not my style! The challenge at Crafting with Deedee's Digi's is 'A Very Vintage Happy Monday'. I wasn't sure I could do it, so I went with a small project. I thought it was pretty good for a very non-vintage kind of girl. I love the style, I just can't create it.  Now, the colors for this vintage card are inspired by this photo and destination at the PlayDateCafe'Challenge:

Another scrapbook page, today following my favorite Cafe' challenge, Color Splash!!! It's B&W with a splash of Green, PlayDateCafe'Challenge40. I used rub-on decals, a stamp and fussy cut my velum leaves from a book. This is my mom, and I'm guessing she's 3 y/o, maybe. Thanks for the challenge Sarah, it was a little tough for me this week.

Getting used to this new blogger editing. I like it, it's just new and different.  Anyway...
This is my card for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #63. The rich colors are from the Play Date Cafe' Challenge #39.  Julie is giving us destination challenges. Go on over and check it out!

I have added a pearl necklace and belt to my dress. I wanted sparkles, so I added rhinestones. I think next time I'll use stickles,  as I did on the white seen in the close up. The image is solid black & white, so it was perfect for this color challenge:

What's cooking?

I love this color combo so much I had to make a second card for The Play Date Cafe' Challenge #38. I've neglected my Gina K Designs stamps, shown them no love since May!!! Linda's blast from the past challenge over on StampTV, was to do a gate fold card using scraps, stvblastlp7. The stamp set I chose to use is by Asela Hopkins, "Sew Pretty", for GKD.

I had a lot of fun making this card, hope you enjoy it!

Game Night

This card is another multi-challenge card.

-First of all I started by purchasing the Vino image yesterday from Faith at
Designed2Delight Digital Stamps. My printer ink smears when I use OMS, so I out-lined the image w/ a Sakura Glaze pen. I colored it w/ pencils last night.

-Today I thought I would check out my fav color challenges. The Play Date Cafe' had the perfect combo to go with my image. What do you think? Click over there to read Sarah's quick & cute "color story".-Then of course I needed a sketch challenge. Priscilla's Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge was just the ticket. I mixed up the "Fancy" and the "Simple" sketches, so nice to have the options drawn out for me.

-Entering the Designed2DelightInspiration challenge. This is a very different type of challenge, you may want to check it out!

-And DoubleDelight, where Kathy challenged us to get out our cuttlebug folders, or other for embossing. Check out what Kris & Kathy have done with their "sister challenge". They are letting us all in on it!!! Thanks girls!!!

French Provencal

This is my card based on the Play Date Cafe' Challenge37. When I saw "Provencal", I thought of blue and yellow, and the Isabella's Sketchbook image, "Sweetheart Flowers". This image was a freebie at CDAC. I used regular SU markers to color the image. The tag is made with a rub-on and an eyelet. Thanks for the fabulous inspiration photo/idea, Julie!

Big Surprise Bear

This is the color challenge at The Play Date Cafe. I wanted to go with the "worn" feel, like the chairs, my blue is actually brighter IRL, and the red is more red than orange. I also distressed the edges of the card base.













My sketch is Here at Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge. Opps, I left a couple of pieces out, I actually had them planned and then forgot. I guess we'll just call it a "between" card. It's what I usually come up with anyway. My image is from Designed2Delight. It's another freebie from CDAC!!! I'm thinking Digis are the way to go.....

Play Date Cafe Favorite Challenge!!!

It's COLOR splash time at The Play Date Cafe! The above image is the inspiration for PDCC34. Read below my card to find out how to play.






I haven't been playing the Play Date Cafe challenges for very long or as often as I would like, but this is the second time I have played "color splash". I love this! Your are to use black and white only, and a splash of the named color. Well, as you can see the "splash" this week is blue. Here's what I used: black and white card stock, random stash of dp, black brads, blue ribbon, blue ink, black ink sponged on edges of image panel, scalloped lace punch. Everything is SU! except the ribbon, and dp.

This Monday afternoon post is a card for 3, yes, 3 challenges. I didn't even plan it that way! I started this one for the Play Date Cafe', PDCC25. Julie, our regular hostess has been ill, so Sarah stepped in. Here is what Sarah had to say:

It's a Colour Splash Challenge!

'Colour Splash' is simply black & white with a 'little bit' of colour.

And this week's colour is

orange

I wanted to use one of Rupa Shevvde's "Many Happy Re-turns", images. {find the set here, at Gina K Designs} Well, I needed a sketch, so I went over to Gina K's StampTV. I found Vicki's sketch challenge, stvscvd07, so I went with that. I remembered that the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge, SSCC35, was something with flowers, so I made sure I added flowers. Read the scripture and thoughts from Candace.

The back and bottom of my photo are actually the same color, and my fan is more orange than the yellow it appears to be. HUH???

Plum Grace

This is my card based on the color challenge below from the Play Date Cafe, and the sketch challenge below from Chris at the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge.

I used rich razzelberry, pale plum, and very vanilla card stock from SU. The paper behind the scallop section is a hand made piece that has lavender stitching. I used my "Grow in Grace" stamp set from ODBD. I love this set!

I used the sheer ivory ribbon from my Holiday Cheer, StampTV kit from Gina K Designs. My favorite store on the internet!

Now, the little flower is from Grace at Th-ink-ing of you, she sent it, with other goodies, inside the beautiful box I won last month. Thanks Grace!

The little half pearl in the middle comes from Sabrina at SJBUTTERFLYDREAMS, I won her card last month too, and she sent goodies with it!

Back to my card...
I settled on Orchid Opulence for my ink on the outside, but on the inside I used pale plum for the background flowers.

The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge-SSCC33 based on this scripture, chosen by Kathy Winters

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

The challenge is to make a card/layout/project with the word LOVE on it, or something that symbolizes LOVE to you.

I used Gina K Designs Pure Luxury Card Stock "Ocean Mist", from the Spring Assortment. This picture does not do the color justice! The darker blue is Brilliant Blue from Stampin' Up, doesn't look very brilliant in this photo, does it? The butterfly and sentiment are from the GKD, Eclectic Summer StampTv Kit, currently available as separate sets.

I colored the butterfly with Koh-I-Noor, pure color pencils, Prismacolor watercolor pencils, Goo Gone, and a blending stump. Yep, Goo Gone works great, I think I like it better than Mona Lisa OMS! I added Icicle Stickles to parts of the wings.
